The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares

The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares

24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”Mt. 13:24:30 NKJV

Picture a beautiful golden field of wheat.  The weeds or counterfeits are growing right next to them and can be hard to spot unless you are walking amidst the grain. They all look like a field of rich gold, literally shimmering in the sunshine. Together they swing the same way in the wind; as they both drink in the water and sunshine. The wheat faithfully produces more seed to plant the next year, but so does his counter crop.

If you know anything about gardening, with everything you plant there is a copycat plant that comes up right next to the one you planted. Unless you look closely at the two plants you might not recognize the original plant. The copycat’s intent is to steal nutrients from the ones you have planted.  Isn’t it interesting, if we take note; that everything we have on this earth there is a twin that looks like the real thing.

2 Corinthians 4:4

By blinding the minds of men to the true gospel of God, Satan has set himself up as a COUNTERFIET of the Creator God. As the prince of the power of the air, he broadcasts his evil, rebellious attitudes to all humanity, and except for a few whom God has called out of his deceptions, the whole world lives under his sway (Ephesians 2:1-3; I John 5:19; Revelation 12:9).

The Bible talks about how the things on this earth are either of God or against Him. What did Jesus say? "Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” Mt. 12:30 niv

Over and over, we see; there is the original item, then; the fake.  When you start to think about it, there will be many such examples a person can give, this is why we get our inventions and ideas patented or copy written.  Though they cannot copy the item exactly like it was made, because of this protection there will be a slight difference in the product; hence another copycat or counterfeit.

There is grass compared to weeds that look like grass and artificial turf.
There is pure raw honey, stevia, molassess or cane sugar to artificial sweeters.
There are herbs to synthetics drugs.
There are natural pesticides such as diatomaceous earth (and others) to poisonous insecticides.
There are hybrid plants to non-hybrids and heirloom plants.

There are those who say they are Prophets and Teachers, yet preach heresy. Their words do not line up with what God says in His Word.
Truth vs lies.

There are those who boast about their good works, yet their character does not line up with God’s goodness.
Truth vs lies.

And then, those that say they are humble; but their behavior proves otherwise.
Again, truth vs lies.

There are people who say they are friends, but not. The real and not  real.
It can be compared to a homemade pond that must be air-rated to a natural spring fed pond. Good friend to - not a friend. The secret is to know the difference.

A seducing spirit will woo a person with false doctrines that will give just enough knowledge or acceptance they are seeking, to become entrapped  into their belief system.

I could go on.

Listen. With everything in your life there will always be another side or another choice or path for you to take. Look for the other side of the coin. Go out of your way and seek the truth. Take your time and ask God what goes along with that car or house I am planning on buying? What about that gent you are seeing? Is he really the original or are you settling for a counterfeit?

There is always the other side to something.

We can be completely overwhelmed and seduced into liking something that will do more harm for us, than good. Then, we are deceived. We can be traveling down a smooth road toward our destination; happy as a lark only to have gone down a dead end road.

Remember the cult of Jonestown? The people were seduced into believing a lie and followed Jim Jones across the world, to their death.

It has been said that those who followed the cunning of Charles Manson were looking for love and acceptance. Knowing this, he gave them full acceptance, for a price. They even killed for him.

There is a way that seems right….according to the Bible “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Pr. 16:25

What does a doctrine of a God of love give to you?  Our God is compassionate and merciful, one who forgives. He gives the gift of grace (undeserved pardon) to you.

What does a doctrine of a God who hates or demands forcible killings give? How does that God extend hope when promoting fear or anger instead of forgiveness? Death instead of life? Where is the love? Do they see killing as an act of love?

Lastly, what does a doctrine of “work my way to heaven” give you? There isn’t anything we can do in the way of works, to earn our way to heaven. Jesus is our righteousness. We can never be good enough or do enough to earn eternal life. Jesus paid the whole price. But after you are born-again, you live in His love and faith and you strive to do good works because of the love and forgiveness He has given to you.
